Hard to believe that the week of March 16, 2020, was the last week with a day of “normalcy”. I remember sitting in my office when there was rumbling of a possible state shutdown. It was an eerie feeling, surreal in many ways, and then bam, reality. A reality no one imagined or was prepared for.
Nine months later we have witnessed the COVID-19 pandemic turn our local, state and national communities upside down. We have seen suffering, heartache, and countless lives lost. We have seen the exercise of self-autonomy for better or worse. We have seen despair and a longing for a better tomorrow.
This week will be a milestone, much like the week of March 16, 2020 was for the COVID-19 pandemic, because help is on the way. The first vaccine arrived to the United States with San Diego County receiving 28,000 doses and more to come! We now see hope, optimism, and know that a better tomorrow is near.
A better tomorrow because while the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was unimaginable, so were the silver linings. We have seen technology enable the legal community to carry on. We have seen families bond with a frequency not common in the “old normal”. We have seen Lawyers Club innovate to elevate our services for our members in a virtual world.
Let us then, this holiday season, celebrate that help is on the way.
