Our members provide incredible leadership to Lawyers Club and make tremendous contributions to the community. We recognize the achievements of our members and others in this community and beyond with these awards:
From time to time, Lawyers Club recognizes exceptional achievement by individuals furthering the advancement of women in the law and society by presenting the Icon Award at its Annual Dinner. The Icon Award was established in 2008 to recognize an individual who epitomizes success and innovation and whose efforts leave a legacy and honors those who have continued to make meritorious contributions to society throughout their lives, and who share Lawyers Club’s values of justice, inclusion, and progress.
Established in 1985 to recognize a Lawyers Club member whose contributions to the organization are outstanding.
Established in 1985 to honor a Lawyers Club member whose local community activities have served to improve the status of women and to promote equality.
C. Hugh Friedman New Lawyer Award
Established in 2013 to recognize a Lawyers Club member in practice for seven years or less who is a champion in advancing Lawyers Club’s mission and who has demonstrated leadership and professionalism within the San Diego legal community.
From time to time, the Charles A. Bird Ally Award recognizes an individual, who self-identifies as male, exemplifies a lifetime commitment to Lawyers Club’s mission, and shares the organization’s values of justice, inclusion, and progress. This award was named after its first recipient Charles A. Bird (1947-2021) and was posthumously awarded in 2022 to honor his lifetime commitment to Lawyer Club’s mission and decades-long advocacy for gender equality.
Women of Color Excellence Award
Established in 2013 to recognize a woman of color who has demonstrated excellence or has been exemplary in her field; and has advanced the status of women of color in the law or society. There is no requirement that the recipient be a Lawyers Club member.
